WHERE WE ATE

TIMBERYARD

'Creative menu of locally-sourced artisanal produce in hip, industrial-chic former warehouse space.'

This is a restaraunt for a special occasion. The building alone is fantastic. The food is absolutely exceptional, we would recommend the tasting menu to get most out of the experience. The wine list is plentiful and the staff were extremely attentive. As a side note, one of us has a nut allergy and despite being a set-menu, they went above and beyond to make sure that we were accommodated.

Kyloe

'Steak restaurant in the Rutland Hotel for Scottish beef in a classy space with cowskin booths.'

Meat, meat and more meat. We tried their Sunday roast with unlimited sides. It was great value for money and the roast beef was delicious. You finish off the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding to share.

Loudons

'Loudons is one of Edinburgh's multi award winning cafe / restaurants. We are known as one of the best places for breakfast, brunch, lunch and beyond in the capital.'

Our go-to place for Brunch.  There are plenty of options from sweet to savoury, traditional to non-traditional. We particularly enjoyed their 'Hoots Mon Benny' (Haggis, Smoked Streaky Bacon, Black Pudding Puree, Poached Eggs, Whisky Hollandaise, Toasted Oats on an english muffin) and Banoffee Pancakes.

Bread Meats Bread

'Built on a love of playful twists on cult favourites, Bread Meats Bread is a family business founded in the belief that freshness means flavour.'

The name alone made us want to go. This isn't any normal burger joint. Offering specials such as the 'LUTHER BURGER- Two caramelized glazed ring doughnuts toasted and filled with a cheeseburger topped with candied bacon, spicy honey mayo & crispy onions' and a variety of Poutine options with various toppings.

Uplands Roast - The Coffee Box

'Situated in the heart of Edinburgh, our Meadows coffee shop has become a hub for folk in the community and those just passing through. We are proud to roast beans fresh on-site and always try to brighten people’s day by playing tunes, having a chat and serving drinks as best we can. If you are ever in town, be sure to stop by for a coffee, chat or just a wee dance.'

Located at the Meadows park, the coffee box offers great drinks from sweet Vietnamese iced coffee, Hot chocolate and even some music being played on decks.
