WHERE WE ATE

Torvehallerne

'Torvehallerne is one of Copenhagen's gems for locals and tourists alike. You can find speciality goods, fresh vegetables and exquisite little food bars where you can get specialities from all over the world.'

Torvehallerne was our first food stop in Copenhagen and we were really spoilt for choice. Split into two market halls (one for savoury food and the other for confectionaries, baked-goods and general goods stalls). The vendors offer the highest quality, organic ingredients and the cuisines on offer cover a range of nationalities. We ate from Hallernes Smørrebrød and Albatross & Venner. The former offering a big range of smørrebrød (one of the national dishes) and the latter, offering a range of delicious, freshly-baked goods.

Høst

'Høst is located in a classic Copenhagen building on the corner of Nørre Farimagsgade and Ahlefeldtsgade, and here the exposed brick walls and Danish midcentury furniture design reflect the kitchens’ ability to mix the minimalist and the idyllic.'

Words cannot do enough justice to how good it is here. We opted for the 5-course tasting menu (you can also add wine pairing) and ended up eating 9 courses (4 surprise ones!). It was Nordic cuisine at it's absolute best. Fresh and high quality ingredients. The dishes were intricately put together, balancing out flavours to absolute perfection. Every dish looked like a painting. If you can, you MUST go here.

Gasoline Grill

'World Famous Burgers in Copenhagen. Fresh in-house ground organic beef every day.'

Now, burgers from a petrol (gas) station may sound a little out-there but here us out. Located literally at a fully functioning petrol (gas station) these are some TASTY burgers. You can taste the quality of the meat in all its juicy, tenderness. The crinkle-cut fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. We went for the 'Original Burger' with added cheese and 'Butter Burger' (that's right, a burger with nothing but a slab of butter for condiment) also with added cheese and doubled up.

Restaurant Barr

'Barr is a casual restaurant and bar, a place to drop by with friends or family for a beer and a snack, a quick dinner, or a full tasting menu offering our classics and favorite dishes. '

Located at the site previously occupied by world-renowned Noma. Restaraunt Barr offers a wonderfully Scandinavian interior of recycled wood. You can visit just to enjoy the huge selection of beer (they offer a good selection of cocktails and wine too)  but we really do recommend you eat here too. We had their 4-course menu which was delicious and hearty. As part of the 4-courses we had 'TROUT - Marinated fennel with sourbeer sauce', 'BEEF TARTARE - Pickle mushroom, ramson and ryechips', 'FRIED PORKCHOP (FOR 2)  Breaded aged pork, with dill stewed potatoes, lemon and Barr’s butter sauce' and the 'CHOCOLAT DESSERT Chocolat ice, mousse and cherry compot;'. Just make sure you go on an empty stomach! For beer fans, make sure you get the beer pairing too.

DØP

'At DØP, we have revitalized the traditional hotdog using only organic ingredient, making healthier fast food of the highest quality. With the utmost respect for tradition, we have optimized the traditional menu and made the hotdog stand a proper place to eat. Past the years, DØP has received several awards and distinctions, among others "Best Place to Eat of the Year" and "Best in Test".'

We seem to have been saying the same thing on this trip, 'this is the best ... we have had'. Now we don't want to be as bold as saying this is the best hot dog we have had but... it proabably was... You can just tell how fresh the condiments and pickles are and the bun was nice, firm and held it all together nicely. Just watch out for hungry pigeons!

Feed Bistro

'Take a seat and feel the intimate Feed atmosphere. The restaurant is both spacious and cozy. Here you can sit and enjoy the view over Copenhagen's busy streets, or follow the chefs at work through the open kitchen.'

Make sure you are hungry if you go here. This is rich indulgence. Feed offers two set-menus 'Signature' and 'All-in' as well as their a la carte menu. We opted for the 'Signature' menu consisting of 'The Cutting Board', 'Beef Wellington' and 'Creme Brulee'. They are famous for their Wellington so of course we had to try that. Every dish was well executed, rich and packed full of flavour. It is also worth mentioning that they have a 'Katsu Sando slider' which they are also known for.
